Hands-on experience

TO THE EDITOR: I’ve been following the news of the race in the 21st Congressional District with great interest.

It has become clear to me that Emily Martz represents our best opportunity for economic progress in the North Country.

Emily recently visited several farms in the Essex area and the Hub on the Hill, a local business that supports our local agricultural economy and community. I had the opportunity to join her for some of this tour.

This experience gave me a chance to observe how well Emily Martz understands the needs of small North Country businesses.

The Hub on the Hill is an impressive example of the way she was able to lend support to the local economy as director of operations and finance at the Adirondack North Country Association.

Local farmers told her how important the hub has become to their businesses, when she met with them that day. Emily’s background in finance and her time working at ANCA give her hands-on experience working on many of the day-to-day concerns facing people throughout the 21st District.

We need more than rhetoric about improving the economic climate in the North Country. Emily Martz’s candidacy offers the kind of practical know-how that can effectively meet our needs at this critical time for the North Country and the nation.
