I am running because I want to live in a just world, a world where everyone has the opportunity to realize their full potential.
This means that I am running to create jobs, to support working families, people who can’t take care of themselves, and the environment. This means that my priority in Washington will be to help create an economic system that works for everyone, one that provides us all the chance to participate in our nation’s prosperity, and one that curbs climate change and protects our country’s natural resources.
Corporate profits have increased for the last 30 years while working families’ wages have stagnated and climate change escalates. Healthcare costs in the United States are among the highest in developed nations while outcomes are among the worst. These dire realities show that our economic system fails to use its resources efficiently and fails to provide opportunities for all who wish to pursue them.
We deserve a leader in Washington who can help set our nation on a stronger path, a path where hard work is rewarded with a paycheck that can put food on the table and money in the bank. We need an economic system that treats everyone with dignity, giving a hand up to those who need it and compassion to those who can’t take care of themselves.
We need a healthcare system that allows everyone access to affordable quality healthcare, better managing costs and outcomes. And, we need environmental policies that encourage energy saving behavior, clean energy production, and that protect our environment and way of life for generations to come.
